Jan Liebermann, a rising star in the world of organ music, is set to perform a captivating concert on August 17, 2025, at 4:00 PM in Magdeburg.

Born in Kronach in 2005, Liebermann began his musical journey at the tender age of 7 with piano lessons. His passion for music led him to continue his organ studies in 2018 under Bernhard Zosel in Kronberg. Following this, he was admitted to the Young Academy of the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt am Main in December 2019.

Since the winter semester of 2022/2023, Liebermann has been studying organ literature performance in the pre-course of the Hochschule für Musik in Mainz under the tutelage of Gerhard Gnann. His dedication and technical skill have earned him a reputation for making the many possible sound colours of the organ audible.

Liebermann is known for his unique ability to perform from memory at the organ. In the spring of 2024, he performed all six trio sonatas of Johann Sebastian Bach from memory, showcasing his remarkable musical understanding and technical prowess.

The concert will feature a diverse repertoire, including compositions by Healey Willan, Johann Sebastian Bach, and Maurice Duruflé. Duruflé, a student of organ greats like Louis Vierne and Charles Tournemire, will be concluded with his Suite, Op. 5 at the end of the concert. Willan, a versatile composer, created over 800 works, including operas, symphonic works, chamber music, and numerous church musical organ and choral works.

The afternoon concert will begin with Johann Sebastian Bach's Orchestral Suite No. 3. This classical piece will set the stage for an enchanting performance by Jan Liebermann, who is known for his ability to bring out the beauty and complexity of the organ's many sound colours.

This promising young artist has already performed in significant centers of organ music. Liebermann has also received piano lessons in the master class of the International Piano Institute Bad Homburg from Lev Natochenny.
