Blast off to Dormagen! 🌟

City council members kicked off the week with an electrifying meeting on Thursday, February 22nd. The big decision? Applying to host the European Shooting Meeting (EST) in 2030! After a lively discussion, the council unanimously voted yes, seeing it as an excellent opportunity to boost both the city's economy and cultural scene.

Council members welcomed the experts present, including Mayor Erik Lierenfeld, Peter-Olaf Hoffmann, the General Secretary of the European Confederation of Historical Shooting (EGS), and Manfred Klein, chairman of the city shooting association. They all saw the move as a strong political signal.

The EGS will make the final call on the allocation during their plenary assembly on April 6th. 🗓️

Other decisions from the meeting include tweaking the city's statutes on permits and fees for special uses on public streets. The council also agreed to build a new gymnasium at the Stürzelberg primary school, replacing their decrepit, cramped, and non-DIN-compliant hall. They even threw in a partition curtain as an added bonus!

Mark your calendars! The next city council meeting is scheduled for Thursday, April 18th, at 5:30 PM. 📅
