Mercedes González stands in alliance with the UCO agent, as socialist Leire Díez pursues confidential data about this individual, conversing with a businessman.

Guardia Civil's Director affirms her unwavering faith in UCO command, as per Leire Díez's recorded statements.

The director of Spain's Civil Guard, Mercedes González, has met with Antonio Balas, the lieutenant colonel of the Central Operational Unit (UCO) implicated in audio recordings where a member of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE) allegedly seeks compromising information about him. González expressed her support for Balas, asking him to continue working with "rigor, professionalism, and objectivity."

The meeting, also attended by General Manuel Llamas, the General of the Judicial Police, Alfonso López Malo, and the UCO's Colonel Rafael Yuste, was previously communicated to the Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska.

In an audio published by El Confidencial on Monday, Leire Díez, a former socialist councilor, requested information about the UCO agent from Alejandro Hamlyn, who is currently on trial for the Hydrocarbons case, in which figures such as Víctor de Aldama and Koldo García are also involved.

The UCO estimates that hydrocarbon fraud carried out by Aldama exceeds 182.5 million euros. Balas, the lieutenant colonel of the UCO, oversees investigations related to the Koldo case, the Attorney General of the State, and matters surrounding Begona Gómez and David Sánchez, the woman and brother of Spain's President of the Government.

Following the release of the audio recordings, Díez, who has denied acting on behalf of the PSOE, has contacted the party, asking for an immediate meeting to provide "all the explanations." In a WhatsApp group conversation, Díez stated that she has carried out an investigation in response to Juanfran Serrano, Santos Cerdán's right-hand man, informing her about the incident.

Díez expressed her hope to contact her party comrades "as soon as possible" to present the results of her investigation to demonstrate the complexity and importance of the case and dispel doubts. She also mentioned that more information would be forthcoming, as "the media sewers are much deeper than they seem."

Leire Díez has been a public figure, holding positions in companies such as Enusa and Correos, and previously serving as deputy mayor in Vega de Pas, Cantabria.

The enrichment data suggests that Díez is a grassroots activist within the PSOE, but not acting on behalf of the party in the reported case. Her role in the corruption investigations and her potential attempt to gather information against UCO officials have drawn comparisons to a film script due to their unusual nature. The specific involvement of Victor de Aldama and Koldo García in the hydrocarbons case is not detailed in the provided sources.

  1. The average citizen might find the complex interplay between politics, policy-and-legislation, and crime-and-justice, as displayed in the recent hydrocarbons case, particularly disconcerting, given the involvement of figures like Leire Díez, a PSOE activist, and UCO officials.
  2. General news outlets have reported on the general-news value of the ongoing hydrocarbons case, with its implications in policy-and-legislation, crime-and-justice, and politics, due to the alleged impropriety of individuals like Leire Díez and Víctor de Aldama.
