GTA 6: Latest Information Compiled

After much anticipation, Rockstar Games has announced that the next mainline Grand Theft Auto (GTA) game, GTA 6, will officially launch on May 26, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. However, PC gamers will have to wait beyond the initial release window.

According to a Bloomberg report from 2022, the original map for GTA 6 was intended to encompass areas based on both North and South America, but was cut back during development, with the focus shifting to Vice City and surrounding areas. The game's map may not remain static post-launch, as Rockstar plans to update it with more cities and interior locations after release.

The game's development aims to significantly move beyond what Rockstar has previously delivered, and it will feature Vice City, Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, and Mount Galaha as its main areas. The story missions could reference some very iconic movies, as it is set in Vice City.

The first trailer for GTA 6 was revealed on December 4, 2023, after it leaked online. This trailer introduced Lucia Caminos as one of the main protagonists. The latest trailer, released on May 6, 2025, focuses on the male protagonist, Jason, and introduces new main characters.

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick expects GTA 6 to be a colossal hit, and the game's graphics are looking very graphically impressive. A new website filled with info on Vice City and the main characters has been created.

While the console release is scheduled for late May 2026, PC players should expect an undefined delay beyond that date. Rockstar's past patterns and the large scale of GTA 6 point to a delayed PC launch separate from consoles. There is speculation and some insider leaks suggesting a possible further delay or a September 2026 release for PC, but nothing official has been confirmed yet.

In addition to Lucia and Jason, other side characters revealed in GTA 6 include Cal Hampton, an internet conspiracy nut who's a friend of Jason's, and Boobie Ike, a Vice City legend with an empire spanning strip clubs, bars, and a recording studio. It was previously rumored that Troy Baker might be playing the male protagonist, but he is not playing the male protagonist in GTA 6.

The game will be able to make use of the extra power provided by the PS5 Pro at launch. Meanwhile, GTA 5 is getting DLSS 4 Multi Frame Generation support from Nvidia. Some developers and publishers in the industry are reportedly hoping that GTA 6 will cost up to $100.
