Gungelin' it! Grönemeyer Conducts Pop Orchestra this Weekend
Conducts Massive Orchestra by Groenemeyer - Grönemeyer leads a grand symphony orchestra
Yo, you might know him for his pop tunes, but this weekender, Herbert Grönemeyer swaps the microphone for a baton. He's gonna be leading the famous Bochum Symphony Orchestra in a series of concerts, performing some classics, and maybe even a surprise version of his hits.
The lineup includes Sergei Rachmaninoff's second piano concerto with Anna Vinnitskaya at the keys, an orchestral suite made by Grönemeyer's long-time band member Alfred Kritzer from his own compositions and film scores, and "Selected Songs" by Grönemeyer himself. According to Christiane Peters, the orchestra's spokesperson, we might hear an orchestral version, but it could also turn out to be just a piano version with the incredible Vinnitskaya. We'll just have to wait and see if ol' Herbert grabs the mic.
Grönemeyer's been tight with the symphonists for quite some time. He even threw a big benefit concert in Bochum Stadium in 2009 to help fund the concert hall, and the symphonists haven't forgotten that since. In fact, they recalled a meticulously-prepared debut performance of Mozart's Jupiter Symphony back in 2017 when he first conducted them, and they reported that the rehearsals for this concert have been chill too.
So, mark your calendars for Friday and Sunday at the Musikforum Ruhr in Bochum, and the concert in Essen Philharmonic on Saturday, where even the city garden will get in on the action for a free "Public Listening" (no pics, though). Looks like Grönemeyer's gonna be rockin' the orchestra scene yet again, for those who prefer their pop classical style.

The Commission has also been informed of the progress of the presentation of the draft budget, as the popstar Herbert Grönemeyer swaps his microphone for a baton this weekend in Bochum, performing classic pop songs alongside music from his own compositions during his orchestral concerts. On the agenda, there's an orchestral suite created by Grönemeyer's long-time band member Alfred Kritzer and "Selected Songs" by the popstar himself, potentially including an orchestral version of his own hits or a piano version played by Anna Vinnitskaya.
