Griezmann leaves Atlético Madrid after a decade to join Orlando City
Antoine Griezmann will leave Atlético Madrid at the end of this season after a decade with the club. The French forward has agreed to join MLS side Orlando City, marking the end of his second spell in the Spanish capital. His departure comes as Atlético push for silverware in both the Copa del Rey and Champions League. Griezmann first signed for Atlético Madrid in 2014 after moving from Real Sociedad. Over five seasons, he became a key player, helping the team win the Europa League, Spanish Super Cup, and UEFA Super Cup. In 2019, he left for Barcelona but returned to Atlético just two years later.
During his 10 seasons with the club, he made 488 appearances and scored 211 goals. Across his entire club career—including spells at Barcelona and Real Sociedad—he has netted 298 times in 792 matches. This season, Atlético have reached the Copa del Rey final and the Champions League quarter-finals. Griezmann's contributions have been part of their campaign, though his next challenge will now come in the United States.
Griezmann's exit closes a significant chapter for Atlético Madrid. His move to Orlando City will take effect when his current contract ends. Meanwhile, the club continues its pursuit of trophies in two major competitions this season.
