Grevenbroich's Altweiberfastnacht 2026 Dazzles with Parades and Tradition

Grevenbroich burst into color and celebration on February 12, 2026, as Altweiberfastnacht brought Carnival energy to the streets. The town's annual festivities kicked off with lively crowds, vibrant costumes, and long-standing traditions that filled the marketplace with music and laughter.

The day began with the Kids & Confetti parade, where elementary school children in bright outfits marched through the streets. Their procession marked the official start of the street Carnival, setting a joyful tone for the events ahead.

Later, Mayor Klaus Krützen took part in a time-honoured ritual by handing over the symbolic keys to City Hall. The ceremonial moment saw local Carnival societies, including GKG Grielächer Blau-Weiß Orken e.V. and Närrische Sprotztrupp 1884 Gustorf e.V., receive the keys, symbolising their temporary control over the town.

Revelers then gathered in the marketplace for a packed stage program. Live performances, music, and dancing kept the atmosphere electric well into the evening. Behind the scenes, the city portal acknowledged the efforts of Carnival associations, volunteers, and sponsors like NEW AG and SEG, whose support made the festivities possible.

Multiple parades, organized by clubs such as GKG Grielächer Blau-Weiß e.V., added to the day's excitement. While the exact number of registered Carnival clubs in Grevenbroich wasn't specified, their coordinated efforts ensured a seamless and spirited celebration across different neighborhoods, including Orken.

The 2026 Altweiberfastnacht in Grevenbroich wrapped up with a mix of tradition and community spirit.
