The Berlin Greens are giving another shot at electing their state executive committee, scheduled for Wednesday evening in Berlin-Kreuzberg. During their initial attempt, Tanja Prinz, a Realo wing representative, failed to secure a majority in three ballots. Now, Berlin Bundestag member Nina Stahr is vying for the interim chairwoman role, having served in that capacity previously from 2016 to 2021.

This leadership contest has caused uncertainty within the party. Prinz represents a segment of the Realos who advocate for a more moderate party, opposing the current state executive. Although she didn't garner majority support during the conference, Prinz remains a influential figure in the Green party's leadership.

Beyond the two chairpersons, the election will also decide a new treasurer and assessors. The outcome of this vote is essential to prevent persistent discord within the party and maintain unity.

Originally, Prinz and Philmon Ghirmai, representing the Realo and left-wing factions respectively, wanted to lead the party. However, following a cancellation due to a lack of majority, Stahr is now the probable interim leader until May 2024.

The Berlin Greens have experienced disagreements about member of parliament involvement in the party executive, leading to internal turmoil and changes in leadership. Currently, Franziska Brantner and Felix Banaszak head the party, and Robert Habeck serves as their Chancellor candidate for the 2025 federal election.
