Vice President's Spouse to Travel to Greenland - Unwanted Presence foreseen. - Greenlandian Authorities Deny Entry to Mrs Greenland
Greenland, a self-governing region under Denmark's oversight, has sparked a bit of global interest, thanks to the US President's fondness for the icy territory. With Trump himself not ruling out a military takeover, it's no surprise that Trump's supporters have shown an increased interest in the Arctic region.
Following Trump's eldest son's recent visit, Usha Vance, the Vice President's wife, is scheduled to visit Greenland this week. However, her trip is far from warmly welcomed.
Mute B. Egede, Greenland's Prime Minister and the reluctant host of the US delegation, straight-up stated over the weekend that Greenlanders' diplomatic efforts seem to be hitting a brick wall when it comes to Trump and his administration's mission to seize and dominate Greenland. He termed the visit as "maximally belligerent."
What bothers Egede most is the makeup of the entourage. Apart from Usha Vance and her offspring, Energy Secretary Chris Wright will tag along – according to the New York Times, this could be down to Trump's interest in certain alluring resources[2][3][4].
Greenland's PM Loses His Cool Over Usha Vance's Visit
What truly grinds Egede's gears, though, is the presence of Michael Waltz, the US National Security Advisor, in the group. "What in blazes is he doing in Greenland?", Egede asked. He's there to parade America's power.
As for the delegation's declared intentions, they claim to seek cultural and historical engagements. Usha Vance plans to watch the renowned dog sled race, Avannaata Qimussersu, while Waltz intends to check out a US military base[1].
A spokesperson for Michael Waltz asserts the visit aims to forge an economic partnership that respects Greenland's autonomy[3].
The timing of the visit has also drawn flak, as Greenland recently held elections and political discussions are still ongoing. Denmark's Prime Minister, Mette Frederiksen, made it clear that the Americans are not on a Danish or Greenlandic invite[1]. Egede implores the "global community to intervene."

- Mute B. Egede, the Prime Minister of Greenland, expressed his frustration over the upcoming visit of Usha Vance and her delegation, stating that it seems Greenland's diplomatic efforts are being stalled by the Trump administration's desire to seize and dominate Greenland.
- Despite the declared intentions of the delegation to seek cultural and historical engagements, the presence of US National Security Advisor, Michael Waltz, raised questions, with Prime Minister Egede wondering why he is in Greenland to parade America's power.
- The presence of Energy Secretary Chris Wright in the delegation, according to the New York Times, could be due to Trump's interest in certain resources in Greenland, a matter of concern for Egede.
