Join us on this journeyCouncil member and top candidate for the Greens, Theresia Meinhardt, reveals, "In the last 5 years, we've made massive strides in Bergisch Gladbach. We've set solid foundations for climate action, driven the S-Bahn extension, accelerated school construction, and ensured social interaction areas flourish."

Our common goalsDavid Kirch, fellow council member and top candidate, adds, "We aim to build upon our past successes with our election program. Our goal is to make this city fair for present generations and forward-looking for the future."

To keep the growth going for Bergisch Gladbach, the Greens have set realistic objectives for the next few years:

Fostering community: Strengthen and introduce new social gathering places – like neighborhood hubs, intergenerational plazas, and district centers – encouraging camaraderie and chances for interaction.

Emphasizing education: Rapid and targeted expansion of daycare centers and schools, ensuring state-of-the-art, eco-friendly learning environments for all students.

Transforming mobility: The redesign of the Bensberg pedestrian zone and bike lane network will provide safe, eco-friendly, and accessible solutions for citizens' daily commuting needs.

Eco-friendly urban development: The development of the Zanders district will see the creation of affordable housing, public spaces, and a vibrant new city center that complements the downtown area.

Opening culture and sports to all: We believe culture should be accessible, promoting open sports facilities, schoolyards, and sports clubs as platforms for social engagement.

Elevate our city's quality of life: Environmental preservation, biodiversity promotion, creation of infiltration zones, and climate adaptation will make Bergisch Gladbach a livable city, even in the face of climate change.

Town Hall Meeting: Join our candidates in a series of citizen forums, including Alexander Felsch (CDU/FDP) and Marcel Kreutz (SPD/Greens), discussing pressing topics like childcare and city traffic concerns. "Navigating City Traffic and Childcare" is the discussion topic for Monday at 7 PM. Secure your spot at the event here if there are still spaces available.

"With our mission to create a truly livable city, we're committed to shaping Bergisch Gladbach boldly over the next five years," declares Elisabeth Watzlawek, Co-chair of the local chapter. "Our program is an invitation to all citizens to work together in crafting a city that's socially inclusive, eco-friendly, and future-ready."
