Greece battles storms as firefighters respond to 367 emergency calls

Heavy rain and storms have struck western Greece since early Friday morning, with firefighters responding to 367 calls across Corfu and Epirus. In Corfu alone, 180 calls were recorded, with Sidari, Agios Stefanos Avliotes, Roda, and Kassiopi hit hardest. Crews performed 18 water pumping operations and cleared seven fallen trees on the island. The emergency response saw firefighters tackle flooding, fallen trees, and stranded residents across two regions. While the worst of the weather is expected to pass, the impact on infrastructure and communities remains significant. Authorities continue to monitor the situation as conditions gradually stabilise.
