Unknowns steal hundreds of liters of old frying oil - Grease bandits strike again: 700 litres of used cooking oil stolen in Germany

Sindelfingen, Baden-Württemberg, has witnessed a strange series of thefts. Over the past fortnight, unidentified individuals have targeted two fast food eateries, making off with a combined total of 700 litres of used cooking grease. The most recent heist involved 400 litres, valued at around 500 euros, from one such establishment.

The modus operandi of the thieves appears to be consistent. They scale a two-metre-high fence to gain access to the restaurants' outdoor storage areas. The stolen grease, which can be processed into biofuel for vehicles, has an undetermined value but is believed to be resold or repurposed.

The first incident, two weeks ago, resulted in €500 worth of damages at another fast food outlet. The police are currently investigating these related crimes, but the current location and use of the stolen grease remain unknown.

The thefts have raised concerns about the potential misuse of used cooking grease. Authorities are urging restaurant owners to enhance their security measures to prevent such incidents. Meanwhile, the investigation continues, with police appealing for any information that could lead to the apprehension of the culprits and the recovery of the stolen grease.
