Gravel racing champions Sophie Wright and Andreas Seewald triumph in the challenging Gravel Suisse event of the UCI Gravel World Series

The latest round of the UCI Gravel World Series, Gravel Suisse, took place in Switzerland and saw some impressive performances from top riders.

In the elite men's category, Andreas Seewald (Singer KTM) emerged victorious, crossing the finish line in 3:37:47. Mathijs Loman (Swatt Club) put up a strong fight, finishing second, more than five minutes behind Seewald. Pierre Keup (Team Standert) claimed third place.

The women's elite category was equally competitive. Sophie Wright (Ribble Outliers) clinched the top spot with a time of 4:25:00, more than seven minutes ahead of Axelle Dubau-Prévot (Numéro 31 par Café du Cycliste). Dubau-Prévot, who also finished second in the UCI Gravel World Series' Gravel Suisse round, was followed by Sophie Vitzthum von Eckstädt (Colnago Club of Aces) in third place, more than nine minutes behind Wright. Mariëlle Trouwborst (KMC Mountain Bike) finished fourth.

The grueling race, known as The Summit, traversed the Rhone plain and the Col de la Croix, covering a distance of 100km and boasting over 3,300m of vertical ascent. The race linked Aigle to the heart of the Vaud Alps, offering a challenging and scenic route for the participants.

The UCI Gravel World Series is a global gravel cycling competition organized by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI), featuring multiple events worldwide that act as qualifiers for the UCI Gravel World Championships. Notable events in the series include the Hegau Gravel Festival in Singen, Germany, where Mathijs Loman secured the men's victory, and the sold-out Woerthersee Gravel Race in Austria with 2000 riders.

After the exciting Gravel Suisse round, the focus now shifts towards the 2025 UCI Gravel World Championships, which will be held in Zuid-Limburg, the Netherlands. The series continues to grow, attracting elite riders and hundreds to thousands of participants, representing many countries, and has rapidly grown as gravel cycling gains popularity.

Following her victory in Gravel Suisse, Sophie Wright took to Instagram to express her excitement about her win. "What a race! Grateful for every moment," she posted.

The UCI Gravel World Series is a premier international gravel cycling series that includes multiple key events across Europe and beyond, leading to a culminating World Championship. Notable recent winners include Rosa Klöser and Mathijs Loman at the 2025 Hegau Gravel Festival. The series continues to grow with high participation and expanding global presence.

In the realm of international sports, gravel cycling is gaining popularity, with the UCI Gravel World Series being a prime example. Sophie Wright, a gravel cycling champion, recently expressed her joy after winning Gravel Suisse, saying, "What a race! Grateful for every moment," on her Instagram.
