'Grand accolades': Remarks made by Trump and the King during Windsor Castle dinner event

King Charles III Hosts a Grand State Banquet for President Trump

King Charles III welcomed President Donald Trump to the United Kingdom for a historic second state visit, marking an unprecedented honour in British history. The festivities, steeped in tradition and pageantry, took place at Windsor Castle, where 120 horses and 1300 troops, including the largest guard of honour in living memory, were present.

Upon arrival, King Charles and Trump walked side by side to enter St George's Hall, where media mogul Rupert Murdoch also had a seat at the table. The pomp and pageantry were deliberate, aimed at bolstering ties with Trump at a time when his America First policies are putting pressure on trade and security arrangements around the globe.

At the banquet, Queen Camilla was seated next to First Lady Melania Trump and Treasury chief Scott Bessent, while Catherine, the Princess of Wales, was seated to the President's right. King Charles III, Queen Camilla, and Melania Trump were all in attendance.

Among the invited guests were technology CEOs Tim Cook of Apple, Demis Hassabis of Google DeepMind, Sam Altman of OpenAI, and Pascal Soriot of Astrazeneca. English golfer Nick Faldo, winner of six major championships, including three Masters' titles, was also present.

During the banquet, King Charles highlighted the threat posed by Russian aggression in Ukraine and celebrated the longstanding defence and security alliance between the US and Britain. He also touched on Trump's British roots and his recent visits to the UK. Trump described his second state visit to the UK as one of the "highest honours of his life."

Trump was impressed by King Charles' ability to know the names of many people they shook hands with. He praised Prince William as "remarkable" and "amazing" and Princess Kate as "so radiant and so healthy, so beautiful." This seemed to be a reference to her cancer diagnosis and remission.

King Charles lauded Trump's work as a peacemaker, expressing his hope for continued cooperation between the two nations. Trump, in turn, praised the King, describing him as "a great man" and expressing his admiration for the monarchy.

The state visit marked a significant moment in the relationship between the UK and the US, underscoring the shared history and strong relationship between the two nations.
