"Grace Under Pressure": Pogacar Takes a Tumble but Shows Sportsmanship towards Rivals

In a thrilling turn of events at the 2025 Tour de France, Tadej Pogacar emerged victorious, while Jonas Abrahamsen claimed a stage win with Mathieu van der Poel finishing third. Despite van der Poel's cold, he still managed a podium finish.

Meanwhile, in the overall standings, Ben Healy maintains a strong lead, currently 29 seconds ahead of Pogacar. Remco Evenepoel and Florian Lipowitz are not far behind, with deficits of 1 minute and 29 seconds, and 3 minutes and 34 seconds respectively.

The upcoming mountain stages in the Pyrenees, a crucial part of the race, are where Pogacar and Jonas Vingegaard are focusing their efforts. Two stages stand out as the primary tests:

- Stage 12, from Auch to Hautacam, a 180 km climb with a summit finish on Hautacam, is the first major mountain stage and summit finish of the Tour. This extended climb, with an average gradient of 7.8%, will test the riders' endurance and climbing strengths. - Stage 14, ending at the summit finish of Luchon-Superbagneres, features four famous Pyrenean climbs back-to-back — Col du Tourmalet, Col d'Aspin, Col de Peyresourde, followed by the final ascent to Luchon-Superbagneres. This legendary route is a pivotal battle in the high mountains for contenders like Pogacar and Vingegaard.

These stages are expected to be the crucial showdowns between Pogacar and Vingegaard, as they vie for the overall Tour de France victory.

During the race, Pogacar had a close call when he fell a few kilometers before the finish in Toulouse. Fortunately, his skin stopped him from hitting the curb, and he was able to quickly put his chain back on and continue.

Despite missing his third overall Tour stage win in a row, van der Poel's team reported that he was battling a cold. Mauro Schmid narrowly missed second place in a photo finish, shaking hands with Healy for the victory at the Tour de France.

The race was not without its share of excitement off the track as well. A streaker caused chaos in the finish area, wearing an Israel-critical shirt, adding an unexpected twist to the already intense competition.

As the race moves into the Pyrenees, the focus shifts to the critical mountain stages, where Pogacar and Vingegaard will test their mettle and battle for overall victory in the 2025 Tour de France.

Other sports enthusiasts eagerly anticipate the upcoming stages in the Pyrenees, as the Tour de France competition enters its crucial phase. Meanwhile, athletes participating in various sports take inspiration from Tadej Pogacar's resilience and determination, despite falling during the race and struggling with stage wins.
