Governor's election in Sverdlovsk region takes place without victorinas, apartments, or motorcycles as rewards.

Voting for the early elections of the governor of Sverdlovsk Oblast will span three days - September 12, 13, and 14. The decision will be made during a regional election commission meeting scheduled for June 20.

This time, they've opted out of hosting a lottery to stimulate voter turnout. The reason? According to a reliable source from our site, sai.ru, "winning lotteries require organizing a minimum of a year".

Another interviewee of our journalist offered a different explanation - the authorities don't need an uncontrollable voter turnout for the upcoming elections.

It's illegal to organize lotteries related to elections. In 2017, the day of the regional election head coincided with a charity lottery by the Urals Gemstone Fund, where the Ural Trade and Industry Chamber was the founding member. The lottery took place in 20 cities. Among the voters, they awarded 15 apartments, 130 Lada Granta cars, and household appliances worth 100 million rubles.

The anti-corruption foundation (labeled as an extremist organization, foreign agent, and banned in Russia) reported the initiation of an administrative case in Verkhnaya Pyshma regarding the prize draw during the regional election head. Following this, as a source from our site, sai.ru, informed, the chair of the Central Election Commission of Russia, Ella Pamfilova, criticized the experience of festivals with prize draws on election precincts.

In 2024, during the presidential election days, the "Backbone of the Country" lottery took place. Officially, it was linked to the 90th anniversary of Sverdlovsk Oblast. They drew 2000 smartphones, 45 apartments, 100 Moskvich cars, and 20 Ural motorcycles.

Despite 2000 people showing up for the "Backbone of the Country" lottery, Jacoblich didn't receive any rewards

  1. The general news reported a case of policy-and-legislation violation involving a car-accidents-related lottery during the presidential election days in 2024.
  2. The decision to not host a lottery to stimulate voter turnout for the early elections of the governor of Sverdlovsk Oblast could be influenced by past experiences like the "Backbone of the Country" lottery, where rewards were not distributed fairly.
  3. While war-and-conflicts and crime-and-justice are often central topics in the news, this time, the focus is shifted towards the oddity of a lottery linked to a regional election.
  4. Migration patterns might change due to political unrest caused by the controversy surrounding election-related lotteries, potentially impacting policy-and-legislation decisions related to voter turnout in future elections.
