Texan Ruckus: Governor Abbott to Mobilize National Guard at Protest Sites

Governor to Mobilize National Guard During Demonstrations in Texas - Governor to Deploy National Guard in Response to Ongoing Demonstrations

Got some juice? Texas Governor Greg Abbott's spilling the tea. He's planned to deploy the National Guard at various spots across the state for upcoming protests. Previously, Los Angeles rallied against US Prez Donald Trump's tough immigration policies, which spread like wildfire to other cities.

On Tuesday evening local time, there were several arrests due to nighttime curfew violations in LA's city center, according to police gossips. Meanwhile, the feud between Trump and California Governor Gavin Newsom's heating up in their power tussle over these city demonstrations.

The San Antonio Express-News daily has a scoop! They reported, citing Abbott's spokesperson, that soldiers are chilling on standby, prepped for Texas protests. Abbott left the deployment details mum. Protests are scheduled this Wednesday and Saturday in San Antonio's metro area.

Peaceful protests in Texas' state, such as the capital Austin, as well as Dallas and San Antonio, have been common lately, according to media nibblets.

National Guard Deployment: Consent or No Consent?

Back when LA demonstrated against Trump's hardline immigration stance and ICE raids, the US gov rallied 4,000 National Guard soldiers and 700 regular military personnel for Los Angeles deployment - without Governor Newsom's approval. These troops are trickling in and expected to stick around till the crisis subsides. They've scheduled a deployment of up to 60 days.

Trump's decision is a giant step, showing off strength. Unusual and controversial, it's a whole new level of power play. In Texas, however, Governor Abbott took the reins himself, deploying National Guard only in California and Texas due to protests.

LA's Mayor Uses the Sledgehammer

Responding to LA's uproar, the city imposed a nighttime curfew on a small city center area. Mayor of LA Karen Bass announced the measure for Wednesday night (local time), expecting it to remain for a few days. However, not everyone complied: 25 folks were apprehended for curfew violations, with police starting to make arrests shortly after 9 pm on Tuesday (local time), an hour past curfew.

Trump vs. Newsom: Battleground California

While the LA demonstrations persist, tension between Trump and California Governor Gavin Newsom is thickening. Trump gave Newsom and Bass the boot, accusing them of backing radical demonstrators in LA. "They've been funding agitators and looters," Trump blabbed. "They're complicit in this pre-meditated attempt to undermine federal law and support the city's occupation by illegal immigrants." As usual with these accusations, Trump didn't provide evidence.

Governor Newsom, in an impromptu evening chat with citizens, launched a broadsider against Trump's policies, not solely revolving around LA. Trump, in his opinion, is stomping on the separation of powers in the US, firing overwatchers who could keep him in check for corruption and fraud. He's declared war on culture and science, trying to dictate what universities can teach and targeting media and free speech. "Democracy is under siege," Newsom said.

Newsom slammed Trump for turning LA's streets into a military zone, terrifying American communities with his deportation policies, and dividing society. He's heading dishwashers, gardeners, field workers, and seamstresses to the slammer. "Authoritarian regimes start by targeting those least able to defend themselves."
