Alex Otti Stands Firm: No Need to Swap Labour Party for APC to Reach Aso Rock

Governor Otti admits he is closer to the political center compared to some of his fellow politicians, according to Governor Okowa's statements.

Our source reveals that whispers of Governor Alex Otti leaving the Labour Party (LP) have been circulating following the 'tidal wave' of defectors from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Delta State.

During a welcome ceremony, former Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa, hinted that he and his successor, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, joined the APC to forge a direct link to Aso Rock, the nation's power center.

However, in an interview with Arise Television, Otti asserted he doesn't require a switch to the APC to emerging closer to Aso Rock. When asked if he needed to jump ship like Okowa and Oborevwori to get closer to the upper echelons of power, Otti replied, "I am already closer to the center than some of them."

Our source also reports that Otti has leveled accusations against his predecessor, Okezie Ikpeazu, alleging the withdrawal of ₦10 billion from the state's treasury for an unfinished airport project. An audit conducted by Otti's administration uncovered the funds.

During a conversation with Arise News, Otti claimed Ikpeazu completed the ground floor of an unfinished government building and furnished it with expensive Italian furniture, only to commission it. According to Otti, the act is a form of fraud against the state.

He expressed reluctance to probe the matter, citing limited time and the need to focus on his governance duties with only four years in office. Despite this, he emphasized that his government sought the assistance of KPMG to investigate and recover the ₦10 billion budgeted for the non-existent airport.
