Government's persistence on the 25 April Interpretative Centre remains, according to Marcelo, despite his acknowledgment of the related concern.
The Government's plans for an interpretive centre about the Carnation Revolution continue, despite recent developments and criticisms. President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa has emphasised the Government's intention to collaborate with the commission of the Carnation Revolution, stating that there would be no November 25 without the April 25.
In a recent meeting in Belém, discussions regarding a change in the space destined for the interpretive centre were held. President Rebelo de Sousa reiterated that he is the first to fight for the acceleration of the process of creating the centre. However, the commission for the 50th anniversary of November 25, formed by entities or authorities related to that event, remains unspecified in terms of who exactly formed the commission and when it was established.
The 25th of April Association, a key player in the events of the Carnation Revolution, has voiced criticism. President Vasco Lourenco accused the Government of failing to fulfil the commitment to create the interpretive centre, classifying the new commission as "a joke". The Association has been vocal in its disapproval, accusing the Government of neglecting the importance of the centre.
President Rebelo de Sousa addressed these criticisms, stating that the issue of the interpretive centre "has nothing to do" with the celebration of the military operation of November 25. He also mentioned that there is still time for other candidacies to emerge, but did not comment on the presidential candidacy of Andre Ventura.
Amidst the health situation and the upcoming local elections, President Rebelo de Sousa assured that his intention does not interfere with the local elections. The Government's persistence in building the interpretive centre about the Carnation Revolution remains, despite the ongoing controversy.
