Government Integrity Enhancement: Third Phase of 'Adaa' Initiative Commences by Nazaha
With a fresh wave of momentum, the Public Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha) has kicked off the third phase of their "Adaa" initiative – a drive to fortify professional ethics across government departments.
Recently, a series of educational workshops took place, bringing together 118 professionals from 27 different agencies. The number of beneficiaries now hovers around 24,000, demonstrating the growing impact of this ambitions project.
Eng. Abrar Al-Hamad, Assistant Secretary-General for Prevention at Nazaha, underscored the importance of instituting job codes and their alignment with both the United Nations Convention against Corruption and Kuwait's national anti-corruption strategy.
She pointed out the remarkable increase in employee awareness during previous phases and commended the active involvement of the participating institutions.
Yasmine Al-Sharhan, Nazaha's Civil Society Cooperation Monitor, outlined the goals and stages of the initiative, emphasizing the significance of codes of conduct in cultivating a transparent, fair, and accountable work environment.
These workshops are designed to help government entities meet critical milestones and revolutionize their work culture. Ultimately, the vision is a competent, productive public sector backed by a clear set of behavioral standards and strong institutional values.
The "Adaa" initiative aims to achieve key objectives such as boosting integrity, ensuring a fair work environment, preventing corruption risks, and instilling a professional, efficient institutional culture rooted in integrity. It also aims to raise awareness about the Code of Professional Conduct and support government entities in reaching compliance milestones at three progressive levels: bronze, silver, and gold.
The initiative is structured around four key stages: institutional and administrative awareness, training and development, measuring behavior and impact, and progress categorization into three performance levels – bronze, silver, and gold. Since its inception, "Adaa" has considerably impacted over 24,000 employees, with 27 organizations taking part: 5 at gold level, 8 at silver, and 14 at bronze. The current phase seeks to help these entities implement the initiative's requirements in a structured, measurable manner [1][2][3].
In summary, the third phase of Kuwait’s "Adaa" initiative focuses on instilling integrity, compliance, and rigorous standards, guiding government bodies to raise their governance capabilities progressively, ensuring a fair, accountable, and transparent work environment for all.
