Government-funded fertiliser misused by Turbhe paint factory
The Turbhe police are currently investigating a matter involving Mazda Colours Ltd, a Turbhe-based paint manufacturing company, for the alleged misuse of government-subsidised fertiliser.
The investigation began following an official complaint made by Balaji Manchakrao Shinde, the district quality control inspector, who accused the company of colluding to misuse the subsidised fertiliser for personal gain and committing fraud against the government.
The irregularity was discovered during a surprise inspection by the quality control department on June 6 at the company's industrial units in Dombivli and Turbhe. It was found that the company had been using government-subsidised fertilisers meant for farmers in their Benzene production.
Samples of the urea were sent to the fertiliser Control Laboratory in Nashik for verification. The lab results revealed that the urea was not technical grade as claimed, but subsidised neem-coated fertiliser meant exclusively for farmers.
As a result, the authorities issued a show cause notice on July 3 and placed a sales ban on the remaining 171.271 metric tons of urea found on-site, valued at ₹91.47 lakh. The FIR registered against 14 accused from Mazda Colours Ltd includes charges under the Essential Commodities Act, 1955, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023, and the Fertiliser Movement and Handling Control Order, 1973.
The accused individuals from Mazda Colours Ltd face charges of conspiracy, misuse of government resources, intentional deception for financial gain, and other relevant sections of specific laws. The company representatives failed to produce purchase bills, delivery challans, and usage logs when requested.

The search results from 2025 do not mention this case or any progress linked to it, indicating either the case has not had notable new developments in the public domain or it remains under investigation without public disclosure.
This discovery is considered a serious breach of law and public trust, and it remains to be seen how the investigation will progress and what the consequences will be for Mazda Colours Ltd and its accused individuals.
