Government establishes committee for organizing FIFA Futsal tournament hosting
The Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the FIFA Futsal Women's World Cup (FFWWC) 2025, chaired by the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) and vice-chaired by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), has been established to ensure the successful staging of the tournament in the Philippines.
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has directed all government departments, bureaus, offices, agencies, instrumentalities, including government-owned or -controlled corporations (GOCCs) and state universities and colleges (SUCs), local government units (LGUs), and the private sector to extend their full support and assistance to the preparation, organization, and hosting of the FFWWC 2025.
The IATF is responsible for creating a centralized system to coordinate all efforts related to the planning, organization, and execution of the event. This includes the procurement of materials and equipment necessary for the tournament. The task force may also invite other concerned government agencies, local government units, non-government organizations, civil society groups, the academe, and other stakeholders as observers and/or resource persons.
Under Administrative Order (AO) 35, the IATF is allowed to accept donations, contributions, grants, bequests, or gifts from domestic or foreign sources, subject to relevant laws, rules, and regulations. The amounts necessary for the implementation of the order will be taken from any available funding of concerned agencies, subject to existing budgeting, accounting, and auditing laws, rules, and regulations. AO 35 takes effect immediately.
The hosting of the FFWWC 2025 aims to advance the development of futsal in the country, inspire greater sports engagement among Filipinos, elevate the Philippines' standing in the international sports arena, and generate economic and tourism opportunities. The tournament will be held from November 21 to December 7, 2025, with matches in Pasig City (Metro Manila) and Victorias City (Negros Occidental).
The IATF includes key member agencies such as the Department of Tourism, Department of Foreign Affairs, Department of Finance, Department of Budget and Management, Department of Health, Department of Information and Communications Technology, Department of Public Works and Highways, Department of Transportation, Presidential Communications Office, Philippine National Police, Bureau of Immigration, and Metropolitan Manila Development Authority.
The successful hosting of the FFWWC 2025 requires the involvement and support of all concerned government agencies, LGUs, and the private sector. With the establishment of the IATF, the Philippines is one step closer to hosting a major international sports event and showcasing its capabilities to the world.
