Government affirmatively asserts unwavering rights for individuals impacted by revocation of citizenship status

The Ministry of Social Affairs in Kuwait has taken steps to provide support and assistance to individuals whose citizenship has been revoked under Article 8. This commitment, in accordance with the Cabinet's decision, aims to preserve the stability of these beneficiaries and their families.

The ministry's actions are in line with the Council of Ministers' decisions concerning those affected by citizenship withdrawal. Persons (especially women) have until August 31, 2025, to complete a mandatory status correction process through an online platform launched by the Ministry of Interior.

Those who successfully regularize their status before the deadline will receive social and service benefits equivalent to those of Kuwaiti citizens, even though their citizenship is revoked. These benefits include access to healthcare and education services, eligibility for public-sector employment, access to subsidized housing and utilities, the ability to receive interest-free marriage loans, and monthly food rations.

It is important to note that this status is conditional upon the individuals taking timely action and maintaining a "regularized status" by cooperating with their original country embassies and engaging in the correction process. Failure to do so will result in the cancellation of these privileges and services.

While the correction status grants access to these benefits, it does not restore citizenship itself. Individuals retain the right to appeal the revocation through the Citizenship Withdrawal Grievance Committee before the deadline.

The ministry's WhatsApp service, reachable at 22484531, is one of the means to fulfill its commitment to this group of people. The service is available during morning hours from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and evening hours from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

The ministry is also fully dedicated to safeguarding the rights of women with disabilities. It provides a WhatsApp service for women with disabilities seeking information or clarifications. The ministry is committed to providing necessary support to ensure their continued access to all services and benefits.

The ministry's latest news updates can be followed on their website, Instagram, and Facebook. The report about this commitment was published by Al-Rai daily.

In summary, although citizenship under Article 8 is revoked, affected persons who comply with the correction process are treated "as Kuwaiti citizens in all benefits and services" but without citizenship rights, providing a form of social protection during this transitional period. All previous benefits - whether social or service-related - will remain intact for these persons.

Policy and legislation regarding the individuals affected by citizenship withdrawal under Article 8 are being actively managed by the Ministry of Social Affairs in Kuwait, following the decision of the Council of Ministers. This includes politics surrounding the general news of the newly launched online platform for the mandatory status correction process, which offers benefits equivalent to those of Kuwaiti citizens, including access to healthcare, education, public-sector employment, subsidized housing, utilities, marriage loans, and monthly food rations, if the individuals complete the process before the deadline.
