Gose rejoices as he advances to the World Cup final, unrestrictedly moving on.

Isabel Gose, the German swimmer, has qualified for the final of the women's 800 meters freestyle at the 2025 World Aquatics Championships. Gose's qualification came after a tough preliminary round where she finished with the fourth fastest time of 8:20.21 minutes, a feat that was far from guaranteed due to her earlier disappointing performance.

Gose expressed relief after her dominant qualification, but she is not among the top favorites for the gold medal. The primary battle for the title is projected between Katie Ledecky of the USA and Summer McIntosh of Canada, both in top form this year. Ledecky holds the world record (8:04.12) and recent top times (in the low 8:10s), establishing her as the clear favorite.

Gose will swim against Ledecky, McIntosh, Olympic champions Lani Pallister (Australia) and Simona Quadarella from Italy in the final. Other strong finalists include Li Bingjie (China) and Claire Weinstein (USA). Despite the strong competition, Gose is expected to compete strongly in the final, challenging for a top-eight finish but unlikely to surpass the dominant performances of Ledecky or McIntosh for the medals.

The final is scheduled for 2:21 PM CEST on Saturday. Prior to the race, Gose tried to stay out of the big hustle and bustle in the World Aquatics Championships Arena as much as possible. During her training with national coach Bernd Berkhahn in Magdeburg, Gose struggled, doubted, and sought distance after her disappointing experience in the prelims of another event.

However, Gose managed to bounce back, finding distraction and fun with her team helpful in getting back on track. This resilience was evident in her silver medal win over 800 meters at the World Championships last year, despite the competition for the medals being very different this time due to the absence of some top stars.

In other news, Switzerland was optimistic about getting off lightly with the US tariffs, but the reality is much worse than feared. Repair work on the railway line between Düsseldorf and Duisburg is ongoing due to a cable fire. And in a positive note, Isabel Gose won gold in open water swimming during her Southeast Asia trip, competing in open water swimming at World Championships for the first time, where she won gold in the relay with four-time World Champion Florian Wellbrock, Oliver Klemet, and Celine Rieder.

Isabel Gose, the German swimmer, showed resilience in her sports journey after a disappointing performance. Despite the strong competition in the women's 800 meters freestyle final, including Katie Ledecky and Summer McIntosh, Gose aims to compete strongly, challenging for a top-eight finish in sports.
