Gose joyfully makes his way to the World Cup final swimming round: "Cleared to Advance"
Isabel Gose, a 25-year-old swimmer from Berlin, has qualified for the final of the 800m freestyle at the Swimming World Championships in Singapore. The final is scheduled for 14:21 CET on an undisclosed date.
Gose secured her place in the final with the fourth-fastest heat time of 8:20.21 minutes. This achievement comes after a challenging outing in the 1500m event, where she experienced an early exit.
Following her exit from the 1500m event, Gose expressed relief after having a good swim in the heats. She also shared that she had changed her strategy before the race, trying to stay away from the hustle and bustle of the World Aquatics Championships Arena as much as possible.
In a surprising turn of events, Gose won open water gold at the Southeast Asia journey before competing in open water swimming at a World Championships for the first time. Two weeks prior, she teamed up with Florian Wellbrock, Oliver Klemet, and Celine Rieder to win gold in the relay.
Gose will face stiff competition in the final, with Olympic champions Katie Ledecky (USA), Summer McIntosh (Canada), Lani Pallister (Australia), and the defending champion Simona Quadarella from Italy among her opponents.
Several top stars skipped the title fights in February due to the Olympic Games in the summer, altering the competition for the medals in this year's World Championships. Despite the absence of some prominent names, Gose remains focused and determined.
In the days leading up to the final, Gose has been training with national coach Bernd Berkhahn in Magdeburg. She has been finding distraction and fun with the team helpful in bouncing back from her earlier struggles.
Despite a challenging few days, Gose has not sought sports psychological help to bounce back. Instead, she has been relying on her team and her own determination to overcome the setbacks and prepare for the final.
