Gomez de Liano aims to demonstrate the wisdom of Converge's choice for their second draft pick
In exciting news for the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA), Juan Gomez de Lianño has joined the Converge FiberXers. The young and promising core of the FiberXers welcomes the seasoned player, who brings with him a wealth of experience from professional leagues in Lithuania, Japan, and Korea.
The FiberXers, known for their disciplined play and commitment to the right approach, used the No. 2 selection in the PBA Rookie Draft to secure Gomez de Lianño's services. His addition bolsters the FiberXers' backcourt, alongside the guard duo of Schonny Winston and Alec Stockton, and the twin towers, Justin Arana and Justine Baltazar.
Gomez de Lianño, who was the second overall pick in the draft, expressed gratitude for being chosen by Converge. He stated that he would not let the team regret their pick and shared the same goal as Converge: winning a championship.
Converge, who have yet to advance past the quarterfinals in their franchise history, hopes for a breakthrough with Gomez de Lianño on the team. Gomez de Lianño, who last played for the Seoul SK Knights, also expressed enthusiasm for Converge's plan for him. He is looking forward to playing with the FiberXers' roster.
Interestingly, Gomez de Lianño was originally set to be chosen later in the first round. However, Converge traded the No. 8 pick and forward Bryan Santos to Phoenix to acquire the No. 2 selection. The new coach of the FiberXers, as of the time of this article, remains undisclosed.
Gomez de Lianño, a former member of Gilas Pilipinas, is no stranger to the Philippine basketball scene. His addition to the FiberXers is expected to bring a fresh dynamic to the team, as they aim to make a significant impact in the upcoming season.
