Golfer K'Ouma emerges victorious after defeating 237 opponents in the Thika golf tournament
In an exciting day of golf at the Old Mutual Clubnite tournament held at Thika Sports Club, George K'Ouma emerged as the overall winner. K'Ouma, who is the club's vice captain, played off a handicap of 16 and scored an impressive 69 nett in the daylong tournament.
K'Ouma's win in the main category was due to a competitive round within his flight. His victory was not the only highlight of the day, as several other golfers shone in their respective divisions.
In Division One, David Matano, playing off handicap four, clinched the title with a score of 72 nett. Esther Thal, playing off handicap 16, won the Division One lady title with a score of 73 nett. The senior golfer, Wilson Njega, secured the Division Three main prize with a score of 70 nett.
Meanwhile, in Division Two, Alice Dan, playing off handicap 27, won with a score of 71 nett. Julius Mwaura, also playing off handicap 16, was declared the Division Two winner with a score of 69 nett.
The tournament also featured several other awards. Maina Kinyua led in the Supplementary category award with a score of 60 nett. Johnson Ngugi won the Guest prize on a score of 71 nett, while Jonatha Maritawa earned the Junior prize on a score of 92 nett.
The tournament was not without its surprises. K'Ouma was motivated by the prizes on the podium at the start of the tournament, and his competitive spirit drove him to victory. Dennis Nyaga, playing off handicap 37, won the Sponsor prize with a score of 69 nett. Margaret Magothe won in Division Three with a score of 70 nett.
In the Gross category, Sam Njenga, playing off handicap 7, won with 80 gross points. The day ended on a high note as K'Ouma was announced as the overall winner of the Old Mutual Clubnite tournament at Thika Sports Club.
