The MENA Golf Tour, a professional golf circuit based in the Middle East and North Africa, is making a comeback. The tour, which aims to become a launchpad for the next generation of champions, has appointed Richard Rayment as its General Manager.

Richard Rayment, a seasoned professional with 35 years of experience in the golf industry, brings a wealth of knowledge to his new role. He has worked alongside golf legends including Seve Ballesteros, Bernhard Langer, Sandy Lyle, and Ian Woosnam. Rayment has also built a career spanning continents, co-founding a sports management company in Germany, guiding Ryder Cup players, and pioneering professional golf events in Eastern Europe.

Keith Waters, Chairman of the MENA Golf Tour, welcomed Rayment's appointment, citing his experience in managing players, organizing tournaments, and advising on sponsorships. Waters and Donna Benton, a successful UAE entrepreneur, are part of the team backing the MENA Golf Tour's relaunch.

The MENA Golf Tour's 2021-2022 season will kick off in November with the Qualifying School in Portugal. Each tournament will carry Official World Golf Ranking points, positioning the tour as the region's premier development platform for professional and amateur golfers. The season will run through March 2022, with a total of 12 events, each with a minimum prize fund of $100,000.

Rayment expressed his excitement about his new role, expressing passion about helping shape opportunities for golfers in the MENA region. The MENA Golf Tour's alumni include winners on the DP World Tour such as Scotland's Robert MacIntyre and South Africa's Thriston Lawrence, although there are no specific publicly available records directly identifying which MENA Golf Tour alumni have won on the DP World Tour.

The MENA Golf Tour's relaunch is a significant step forward for the region's golfing landscape. With the right guidance and resources, the tour is poised to nurture a new generation of champions and contribute to the growth of golf in the Middle East and North Africa.
