Fired-Up Friday at The Memorial Tournament

Justin Rose set the course ablaze on Friday, smashing a sizzling six-under 66 to soar an impressive 50 spots up the leaderboard. After a dismal six-over-par 78 on Thursday, his level-par score has him comfortably nestled in a tie for 12th place.

Friday's round wasn't just a mammoth 12 shots better than his previous day's performance; it was a testament to Rose's perseverance and resilience.

Prior to the tournament kickoff, Rose was spotted testing out new clubs at Muirfield Village, among them the brand-new TaylorMade Spider 5K-ZT Putter. This ain't his first rodeo with the flatstick; he's already wielding it with aplomb.

At the midway point of the tournament, Rose rules the leaderboard when it comes to Strokes Gained: Putting, with a whopping 4.348 strokes gained on the competition. But the nitty-gritty of his new putter's specs remains a mystery for now. We do know, though, that it's among the latest putters boasting a zero torque design.

If you recall, we first caught a glimpse of the Spider 5K-ZT Putter at the Valero Texas Open, where Brian Harman whipped it out to clinch the title. That week, Harman finished an impressive 12th in Strokes Gained: Putting. It's yet to be determined whether Rose will keep his new pal in the bag for the remainder of the tournament, but it's a sight for sore eyes, especially for Rose, who ranks a dismal 120th in Strokes Gained: Putting on this year's PGA Tour.

After his Friday round, an elated Rose admitted, "The PGA Championship was a major bummer with my short game. I had zero momentum. Whenever I missed a green, I couldn't get up-and-down, I wasn't making the most of the par-5s, and all that jazz. Today was just the opposite." He continued, "I managed to hang in there with some solid chips, some clutch short game at the right moments, and knocked in some key putts to keep things rolling. That's exactly what you need."

Rose's new TaylorMade Spider 5K-ZT Putter, which he tested at Muirfield Village, might have played a significant role in his impressive Friday performance at The Memorial Tournament. On various occasions, the putter has proven its efficiency, as evident when Brian Harman clinched the Valero Texas Open with it.
