Golf duo seeking repeat victory at Mike Dyas Golf Classic on July 14
The Mike Dyas Memorial Golf Classic, a much-anticipated annual event, is set to return to Triple Crown Country Club on July 14th. This marks the second edition of the memorial tournament and the 35th annual golf event hosted by The Point/Arc.
In its second year, the tournament promises to be a significant event, with a record thirty-one foursomes, totaling 124 golfers, set to participate. One of the participating teams is the father-son combo of Ed Baker, aged 89, and Rob Baker. Last year, this dynamic duo clinched a memorable victory, but the identity of the overall champion remains undisclosed due to the lack of available information.
The event is named in honour of Mike Dyas, who expanded Sterling Cut Glass from a small factory showroom into a state-of-the-art production facility. Dyas served as President and CEO of Sterling Cut Glass from 1976-2021 and played a pivotal role in making it a leader in providing awards, trophies, and gifts for thousands of prestigious club events across the country.
Sterling Cut Glass, a licensee of the PGA Tour, Ryder Cup, 124th U.S. Open, and more, will once again produce etched crystal trophies, awards, and tournament gifts for this year's event. J. Brook is the current president of Sterling Cut Glass.
The tournament's shotgun start is scheduled for 11:45 am, and golfers can look forward to a box lunch during the day, provided at a $400 donation. For those who wish to attend the evening dinner, the cost is $50.
Under Dyas's leadership, Sterling Cut Glass flourished, and in 2020, he published a memoir titled Sterling Cut Glass Memories: A Memoir (1970-2020). Sadly, Dyas passed away at the age of 76 on October 6, 2023.
As the golfers prepare to tee off, the Mike Dyas Memorial Golf Classic promises a day filled with camaraderie, competition, and a celebration of Dyas's legacy in the world of golf and beyond. For the latest updates and confirmed participants, it is recommended to check official event communications, local news outlets covering the event, or announcements from the organizing body.
