Don't Miss Par Talk This Week: An Unapologetic Return!
If you've been missing your weekly golf fix, fret not – we're back with an episode that'll have you gripping your putter like never before!
Last Monday, we dropped the ball – and by that, we mean our Weekly Column. But hey, we've got some pretty solid excuses: caddy duty for my young, up-and-coming PGA Pro brother and some much-needed family time. Enough about us, though... let's dive into the juicy golf action that unfolding:
- Scottie Scheffler's Massive Domination at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson
Is Scottie back? Ask any sane person, and they'd say he never left. Ludicrous doesn't even begin to describe his 8-stroke victory at TPC Craig Ranch, setting a record-tying total of 253 (31 under par) in a four-day spectacle. He finished 1st in approach, 1st in greens hit in regulation, 1st in putts per green in regulation, and 6th in strokes gained: putting. With a hot putter and insane ball striking, Scheffler left no doubt that he's the king of the course.
- Bryson DeChambeau's Victory in South Korea
Can't say we weren't expecting it. Bryson DeChambeau added another LIV Golf title of his career, defeating Charles Howell III in a nail-biting showdown. This marks his first victory since the 2024 U.S. Open, and with his recent T-5 finish at the Masters, Bryson's making some noise just two weeks out from the PGA Championship.
- Jordan Spieth's Steady Comeback
Spieth's been cruising, logging six Top 25 finishes in 2025, and his T-4 finish at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson could signal a comeback after an inconsistent few seasons. With renewed confidence, driving skills, and a cooperative putter, Spieth is a force to be reckoned with, especially for those seeking the elusive career Grand Slam in the PGA Championship.

From Caddy to Supporter: A Heartwarming Journey
Aside from the golf, it's not all been play and no work these past weeks. I've had the privilege of caddying for my younger brother, a PGA Pro, in not one but two PGA Professional Championships, including one in Port St. Lucie last week. Although we didn't crack the Top 20 and book a spot in the PGA Championship, the experience was beyond valuable.
Walking countless rounds with my brother, supporting him, and witnessing his grind firsthand, I gained a newfound perspective. The opportunity to compete is precious, and the simple joy of trying to get that stupid ball in that stupid cup in as few strokes as possible is undeniable. It's a dumb game, but it's damn fun. And the bond between brothers? No praise is too high.
Scheffler Ain't No Comeback King
Scottie Scheffler's eight-shot win at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson might lead some to call it a comeback, but don't be fooled – dude never left. Though it took him nine starts to nab his first win of the year, Scheffler's been unstoppable since his four wins before May last year. Winning golf tournaments is hard, but Scheffler made it look painfully easy this week, gaining more than 18 shots on the field with his ball striking alone. You can't beat that kind of consistency. Let's see what he brings to the PGA Championship – I'm betting on total domination.
