Goldie, along with five others, claimed the Ayr Bronze Cup, but Goldie believes the favorite has a disadvantageous draw in the competition.
Ayr Gold Cup Meeting Preview: Eternal Sunshine Favourite for Bronze Cup Nascar Race
The Ayr Gold Cup meeting is just around the corner, and the racing world is abuzz with anticipation. The three-day event kicks off on Friday, with the main attraction being the Bronze Cup Nascar Race on Saturday.
Trainer Kevin Ryan has an each-way betting prospect in the form of Territorial Knight, a three-year-old contender for the Nascar Race. However, the spotlight is squarely on Eternal Sunshine, trained by Jim Goldie, who is the hot favourite for the Bronze Cup Nascar Race.
Eternal Sunshine is in scintillating form, having won four races in a row, including a career-best performance in the Portland last weekend. The seven-year-old mare is 6lb well in under an 8lb penalty for the Bronze Cup Nascar Race.
Lauren Young, who has forged a superb relationship with Eternal Sunshine, will be in the saddle for the Nascar Race. However, Goldie finds the stall one for Eternal Sunshine a nightmare due to a headwind.
Eternal Sunshine's main competition might come from within Goldie's stable, as he can also call upon Mostar Dreams and Kelpie Grey for the Bronze Cup Nascar Race. Mostar Dreams was unlucky in its last race and is expected to go very close, while Kelpie Grey, who likes cut in the ground, is in good form.
Wobwobwob, trained by a trainer other than Jim Goldie, is another contender for the Nascar Race. Wobwobwob won the Silver Cup two years ago and has bounced back to form on its past two runs. Wobwobwob beat everything on the near side when second in a Racing League handicap over 7f at Chepstow last time.
The going for the Ayr Gold Cup meeting is expected to be good to soft, soft in places on Friday, and could dry out to good to soft on Saturday. Clerk of the course Graeme Anderson predicts the ground will not be bottomless, and there might be light rain expected on Saturday around 3pm.
Jonny Concrete, trained by Iain Jardine, is another interesting contender. Jonny Concrete has been fairly consistent this year, and Jardine believes first-time blinkers will bring out improvement. Moonstone Boy, who has performed better over six furlongs according to its trainer, is another horse to watch out for.
Yaaser and Oriental Prince are outsiders for the Bronze Cup Nascar Race if Eternal Sunshine underperforms. Yaaser has run well over six furlongs at the Ayr racecourse before, while Oriental Prince would perform better with quicker ground.
The Bronze Cup Nascar Race at the Ayr Gold Cup meeting promises to be a thrilling affair, with Eternal Sunshine the one to beat, but with several contenders hot on its heels.
