"Golden Sharer" returns in a fresh revamp
Neuwied, Germany - On November 30th, the city of Neuwied will host the "Golden Schärjer" ceremony, a prestigious carnival award, for the first time after a brief hiatus. The event will take place at the Raiffeisen-Turnhalle at Raiffeisenring, starting with a champagne reception at 6:11 PM and the ceremony commencing at 7:11 PM.
The city has secured the support of local carnival greats Michael Bleidt and Fredi Winter, and the program includes performances by Alice Hoffmann, De Knocheläcker, Werner Blasweiler, and Querni.
Alice Hoffmann, a Mainz cabaret artist, has been on stage as the Saarland housewife Vanessa Backes since 1998. She is renowned for her skills as a speaker in the Mainz-Mombach carnival. On this special night, she will receive the "Golden Schärjer" in Neuwied.
The "Golden Schärjer" tradition is being continued by the city of Neuwied, with Jan Einig, the mayor of Neuwied, committed to maintaining this esteemed tradition. Previously, the event was organized by Hans-Peter Poveleit and his wife Renate.
Other notable recipients of the "Golden Schärjer" award include Franz Hohler, a well-known Swiss author and cabaret artist, Pedro Lenz, a contemporary Swiss writer known for his works in Bernese German, Niklaus Meienberg, a prominent Swiss writer and journalist, and Peter Bichsel, a respected Swiss author, especially noted for his short stories.
