Justin Rose Wins FedEx St. Jude Championship, Secures Ryder Cup Spot

Justin Rose clinched a thrilling victory at the 2025 FedEx St. Jude Championship, securing his place in another Ryder Cup. The English golfer shot a final round 3-under 67 to reach 16-under par and eventually defeat J.J. Spaun in a three-hole playoff.

Rose's win marks his 12th PGA TOUR title and his 24th worldwide victory, propelling him back into the top 10 in the world rankings at the age of 45. His triumph at TPC Southwind also guarantees his qualification for the upcoming Ryder Cup team.

In the final round, Rose overcame a three-shot deficit late in the game, birdieing four consecutive holes towards the end. He narrowly missed a birdie putt on the 18th hole in regulation, setting the stage for a dramatic playoff.

The playoff was filled with intense moments as both players made birdies. Rose clinched the win on the third extra hole with a 15-foot putt on the 17th for his fourth in a row. Spaun, who secured a spot in his first Ryder Cup with his performance, made a 20-foot birdie putt on the 17th hole and a 30-foot birdie putt on the second extra hole.

Tommy Fleetwood, who had a three-shot lead over Rose with three holes to play, ended up one shot out of the playoff. His chances of winning were affected by a poor shot on the 17th hole and a bogey, resulting in a 69 for the round. Fleetwood expressed positivity about his performance, despite missing the playoff by one shot.

The top 50 players are assured of being in all the $20 million signature events next year. Besides Rose, other players who moved into the top 50 include Kurt Kitayama, Jhonattan Vegas, J.T. Poston, and Bud Cauley, who secured his spot for the second round of the FedEx Cup playoffs next week.

Chris Kirk was inside the top 50 until he hit into the water on the 15th for bogey and failed to birdie the par-5 16th, ending up at No. 51. Rickie Fowler advanced to the BMW Championship, shooting 69 to tie for sixth.

Rose's victory not only advanced his position in the FedExCup Playoffs—he won the first leg of the FedExCup Playoffs at the FedEx St. Jude Championship—but also serves as a testament to his sustained elite status in international golf competition.
