Gold discoveries made in the trenching process at the Tapanahony Project in Suriname, with 36.7 grams per tonne found over a distance of 5 metres, situated 150 metres south of Randy's Pit.
Sranan Gold Corp., a mineral exploration company focusing on Suriname, has announced significant findings at its Tapanahony Project. In a press release provided by Newsfile via QuoteMedia, the company reported high-grade gold mineralization in a trench located 150 meters south of Randy's Pit.
The trench, identified as 25RACH-001, encountered 36.7 grams per tonne (g/t) gold over an apparent width of 5 meters. This discovery extends the gold mineralization trend beyond the known artisanal mining area at the Tapanahony Project.
Dr. Dennis LaPoint, Executive VP of Exploration and Corporate Development at Sranan Gold, commented that the initial trench confirms the potential to extend the Randy trend. The mineralization is hosted within sugary textured transposed quartz veins that show sericite-limonite alteration and oxidized pyrite relics. The trench sampled material in the upper saprolite zone at the contact between sheared sedimentary and granitic rocks.
High-grade gold results have also been sampled within Randy's Pit itself and from nearby underground shafts opened by local miners. These samples returned grab values as high as 76.6 g/t and 23.7 g/t gold. The mineralized saprolite there also contains west-dipping transposed sugary quartz veins with intense sericite-limonite alteration, and quartz veins with iron sulfides oxidizing to limonite—typical indicators of gold.
The Tapanahony Project, covering 29,000 hectares, is located in one of the oldest and largest small-scale mining areas in Suriname. The project's mineralization footprint has been expanded by these findings, indicating structural trends that will guide forthcoming drilling programs.
Dr. LaPoint, who is not independent in this capacity, has reviewed and approved the scientific and technical information related to the Aida Property, which is not part of the Tapanahony Project. The Aida Property is owned by Sranan Gold and consists of five claims covering an area of 2,335.42 hectares on the Shuswap Highland within the Kamloops Mining Division.

The high-grade gold mineralization discovered in the trench at the Tapanahony Project, extending the gold mineralization trend beyond the known artisanal mining area, suggests a potential for sports (mining activities) beyond the current boundaries. The high gold values sampled from Randy's Pit and nearby underground shafts, along with the characteristic indicators of gold, could intensify mining activities in the future as part of the forthcoming drilling programs.
