Godolphin victor enters illustrious pantheon in Newbury event; Delacroix's triumph in Group race may follow soon
In a thrilling race at Sandown, Tavana finished a commendable fourth in the Star Stakes, marking her first foray into Listed company. The three-year-old filly, trained by Edward Smyth-Osbourne, has shown remarkable promise, having won the 7f fillies' conditions contest earlier in her career, making it two wins from three.
Tavana's debut was nothing short of spectacular, as she claimed victory as a 28-1 winner. Smyth-Osbourne, who has had seven victories this year, is optimistic that Tavana can keep progressing and has not ruled out a quick return to action.
Meanwhile, Tavana's stablemate, Black Star Boy, has also been making waves. The colt won at the second time of asking in the opening 6f maiden. Smyth-Osbourne currently has 18 horses in his care, and he is considering entering both Tavana and Black Star Boy in upcoming races.
The future could hold even greater opportunities for Tavana, as Smyth-Osbourne is considering entering her into Group company races. This decision comes after Alex Merriam, assistant to trainer Charlie Appleby, suggested that Tavana's stablemate, 'Look To The Stars', could step up to Group company races.
Remarkably, 'Look To The Stars', a gelded son of Galiway, recently won the Haynes, Hanson, and Clark Conditions Stakes, a race with a prestigious history of past winners including Derby and Arc winners. The trainer of 'Look To The Stars' is Charlie Appleby.
Elsewhere, trainer Owen Burrows has also been enjoying success. Burrows won the Listed Dubai Duty Free Cup Stakes with horse 'Remmooz', a horse he plans to put away for the winter and aims to step up in trip next year. 'Remmooz' has already won four of his six starts.
As the racing season reaches its climax, Smyth-Osbourne is considering entering Tavana in the Listed Radley Stakes at the end of October, depending on the ground. He is also considering a Listed race on the all-weather in France, which could potentially earn black-and-white points for Tavana.
With such promising performances from Tavana and Black Star Boy, the future looks bright for Smyth-Osbourne and his stable. Keep an eye out for these exciting horses as they continue to make their mark on the racing world.
