Goalkeeper signed by Paris proves to be a victor
Paris Saint-Germain Clinch European Super Cup in Dramatic Penalty Shootout
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) emerged victorious in the European Super Cup final against Tottenham Hotspur, securing a hard-fought 4-3 victory in a penalty shootout. The match, which ended 2-2 after regular play and overtime, saw two late equalizing goals from Kang-In Lee and Goncalo Ramos for PSG, saving them from defeat.
PSG's coach, Luis Enrique, praised the performance of Lucas Chevalier, the new goalkeeper for the team, who made a costly mistake for the second goal but saved a penalty in the shootout. However, the decision to sign Chevalier and demote Gianluigi Donnarumma, reportedly set to join Manchester City, caused a stir before the final.
Enzo Raiola, Donnarumma's agent, expressed shock at PSG's treatment of the goalkeeper before the final. The primary reason for Donnarumma's possible move from PSG is the club's intention to cash in rather than lose him on a free transfer next year. Manchester City, interested in strengthening their goalkeeper position, emerged as the frontrunner for his transfer.
Tottenham Hotspur led the match comfortably for a long time, but their retreat in the final stages led to their defeat. Micky van de Ven and Cristian Romero scored for Tottenham, while Nuno Mendes scored the winning penalty for PSG in the shootout. Mathys Tel and Micky van de Ven, former Bundesliga players, missed penalties for Tottenham in the shootout.
This victory marks another trophy for PSG this year, as they have already won the French league, cup, super cup, and Champions League. However, they did lose one final this year, which was in the Club World Cup against Chelsea.
