Hey there! Let's dive into the latest news from the 2. Bundesliga as SV Elversberg extends the contract of their goalkeeper, Frank Lehmann.

That's right, Lehmann, who's been serving as both a backup keeper and a youth coach for nearly two years, will stick around for another season. According to the sporting director, Ole Book, Lehmann's dual role in the senior and youth teams is making a significant positive impact on the club [1].

Lehmann, a 35-year-old, joined Elversberg from VfL Osnabrück back in the 2017/2018 season [2]. Over the years, he's witnessed the club's dramatic rise from the Regionalliga to the 2. Bundesliga. And, it seems, he's not planning on leaving anytime soon.

"I've always felt a strong connection to the region and the club, so I'm thrilled about continuing my journey here as part of the professional team," Lehmann shared. "I'm excited to share my experiences and sporting knowledge with the future generation of players."

Interestingly, Elversberg isn't stopping at just Lehmann. Earlier this week, they also extended the contract of their second-choice goalkeeper, Tim Boss, all the way until the summer of 2027 [3]. With starting goalkeeper Nicolas Kristof in place, it seems Elversberg is set in the goalkeeper position for some time.

  1. In addition to extending Frank Lehmann's contract, SV Elversberg has also prolonged the tenure of Tim Boss, providing continuous vocational training and guidance for both goalkeepers in the club's goalkeeper areas.
  2. As part of his extended role with SV Elversberg, Frank Lehmann, 35, will not only provide community aid as a backup keeper but also continue his dual role in vocational training of the club's youth teams, benefitting Elversberg's younger areas.
  3. With Frank Lehmann's contract expiring at the end of the current season, his decision to stay in Elversberg showcases a strong commitment to the region and the club, ensuring the continuity of his contributions to both the senior team and the esteemed vocational training program for years to come.
