Cagliari Claim Back-to-Back Wins with Andrea Belotti's Brace

In a thrilling Serie A encounter, Cagliari secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over struggling Lecce, marking their first back-to-back wins in over a year. The decisive goals came from Andrea Belotti, who showcased his clinical finishing skills by scoring in each half.

The match started on a promising note for Lecce, who took an early lead in the fifth minute through Tiago Gabriel, who headed home Riccardo Sottil's cross. However, Cagliari responded swiftly, with Belotti equalising before the half-time whistle. Marco Palestra provided the assist, squaring the ball to Belotti, who lifted the ball over the goalkeeper.

Lecce, who entered the match at the bottom of the table with just one point from their first four games, started the game well but failed to maintain their momentum. On the other hand, Cagliari, coached by Carlos Cuesta, grew into the game and took control, with Belotti scoring the winning penalty kick in the second half to secure all three points.

The victory elevated Cagliari to fifth place in the Serie A standings, a significant improvement from their previous position. The goal in the first half was another testament to Belotti's form, while the second-half strike, secured from the spot, proved crucial in securing the win.

Marco Palestra played a pivotal role in the game, performing an exquisite first touch on a Michael Folorunsho through pass, gaining a split-second advantage that ultimately led to Belotti's first goal.

Despite the loss, Lecce can take solace in their early pressure and the fact that they faced a difficult opponent in high-flying Cagliari. However, their poor start to the season has left them facing the possibility of relegation, and they will need to improve significantly if they are to avoid that fate.

As for Cagliari, the victory will boost their confidence and provide them with a platform to build on as they continue their challenging Serie A campaign. With Belotti in such fine form, they will be hoping for more of the same in their upcoming matches.
