Global Young Musicians Compete at Nizhny Novgorod's Prestigious Olympiad

An international music olympiad is underway at the Nizhny Novgorod Conservatory. The event features both competitive auditions and high-profile performances, including works by Igor Stravinsky. Young string players from around the world have gathered to take part in the programme.

The olympiad's competitive auditions ran until March 20, with 152 participants showcasing their skills. These auditions focused on young string instrumentalists, testing their talent in front of judges.

On March 18, two renowned musicians took the stage in Nizhny Novgorod. Danil Kogan and Sergey Davydchenko, both laureates of the 17th International Tchaikovsky Competition, delivered a special performance as part of the event. Beyond the competitions, the olympiad includes an educational programme. The Conservatory's Student Symphony Orchestra and selected soloists will perform, adding to the event's musical diversity.

The olympiad has brought together emerging talent and established artists. With auditions completed and performances ongoing, the event highlights both competition and collaboration in classical music. The programme will continue to feature works by major composers, including Stravinsky.
