Trump's Global Impact: A Plunge in America's Reputation
Global reputation of the United States is waning on a global scale
In a recent survey by the Pew Research Center, it's clear that the distinction of the USA has been severely impacted in numerous countries under Trump, particularly in Europe, Mexico, and Canada. Israel remains favorable towards the USA.
The report indicates a remarkable decrease in approval ratings for the United States in 15 out of 24 countries assessed. For instance, Germany has witnessed a 16-point drop in positive views of the USA, sliding from 48% to 33%, between 2024 and 2025. Now, a substantial 66% of Germans view the USA unfavorably, compared to last year's 48%.
Critical Acclaim in Sweden and Mexico
The USA's image under Trump has suffered significant blows across Europe, with the most profound drop observed in Poland, according to this study. Sweden emerged with the least favorable American sentiments among all surveyed nations, as 79% of respondents expressed negative opinions.
Notably, majorities in both Mexico and Canada, places Trump considered for expansion, now hold a negative view of the USA. This represents a shift from their initially positive sentiments under Trump's predecessor, Joe Biden.
In most nations surveyed, Trump's persona and policies were met with skepticism. Placing him at the lower end of approval ratings was Mexico, a target of Trump's immigration policies during his tenure. A staggering 91% of Mexican respondents lacked faith in Trump to make decisive moves on the global political stage.
Four out of Five Disapprove Trump's Arrogance
Across all countries, a majority of respondents did not concur with Trump's policies on crucial matters, such as the Ukraine conflict, the Gaza conflict, immigration, and climate change. A whopping 80% deemed Trump arrogant, while only a mere 28% perceived him as honest.
Israel was the most supportive of the USA, with 83% of respondents giving positive feedback. The survey spanned January to April 2025, covering 28,333 adults in 24 countries.
