Global Energy Interconnection Conference Marks Decade of Progress in Global Energy Transition
The Global Energy Interconnection Conference concluded in Beijing on Sept. 10, marking a decade since the launch of the global energy interconnection initiative. The event, attended by over 4,800 guests from 80 countries, showcased innovations and collaborations in global energy transition.
Liu Zehong, Executive Vice Chairman of GEIDCO, kicked off the conference by highlighting the accelerating global energy transition. He emphasized the need for technological and equipment innovation to ensure safe and stable power systems with high renewable energy shares.

Notable achievements include supplying China's first 420 kV eco-efficient dead tank breaker in Gansu and delivering the world's first 550 kV SF6-free GIS to SGCC in 2025. Liu Jie, director of the UHV Business Division of State Grid Corporation of China, will lead the world premiere of the first UHV flexible DC transmission node, the 800 kV Gansu-Zhejiang Link, in the same year.
The conference also saw the release of 32 innovative research outcomes and facilitated over 20 international cooperation projects.
