In a significant development in the ongoing crisis in Ukraine, US President Joe Biden and the leaders of the Group of 7 (G7) countries have collectively warned against the use of nuclear weapons by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The warnings came during a series of events in the past week. On Thursday, Biden made a speech, with the pool report serving as the source for his statements. At the event, Biden expressed his concerns about the escalation in Russia's war in Ukraine and the potential use of nuclear weapons.

Biden stated, "There is no easy way to use a tactical nuclear weapon without ending up with Armageddon." He also added that Putin is not joking when he talks about the use of tactical nuclear weapons, organic weapons, or chemical weapons. The US President further claimed that the prospect of Armageddon has not been dealt with since the Kennedy-Cuban missile crisis.

Biden also stated that Putin's military is significantly underperforming and expressed a desire to identify Putin's off-ramp, where he can escape without losing face or substantial power within Russia.

Meanwhile, Putin made his statement during a news conference in Kazakhstan's funding Astana, renewing his nuclear threats as he announced the addition of Ukrainian territory, some of which Russia does not control, and the call-up of 300,000 reservists to strengthen his faltering invasion. Putin had previously threatened to use nuclear weapons to protect Russian territory after annexing four regions of Ukraine last month.

The leaders of the G7 countries have also expressed concern over Putin's "purposeful Russian escalator actions," including the partial mobilization of reservists and nuclear threats. Germany, France, Italy, the United Kingdom, Japan, Canada, and the United States (the G7 countries) have all positioned themselves in a statement regarding the use of nuclear weapons in Ukraine, collectively warning Russia against the use of such weapons and supporting Ukraine's sovereignty and security.

Notably, the UN has condemned Putin's actions, and the event took place in New York City. Biden made these statements at a fundraising event for the Autonomous Senatorial Project Committee.

The G7 countries have stated that the use of nuclear weapons on Ukraine would have extreme effects. They have warned that any use of chemical, organic, or nuclear weapons by Russia would be met with serious consequences. The event occurred on an unspecified date after October 15, 2022.
