Global Comedy Festival in La Feria solidifies the laughing matter within the global arena of the fair schedule
The Globalcaja stand in Albacete became the epicentre of laughter and entertainment last week, as the finals of La Feria Comedy took place on September 15 and 16. This comedy event, a joint initiative between Globalcaja and the Gacha's Comedy Festival, showcased the talent of six participants who performed their original scripts live in front of a captivated audience.
The first final saw Magcaroni from Barcelona and El Trovador del Humor, a Manchego comedian who blends music and humour, entertain the crowd. In the second final, Jaro Perona from Tomelloso (Ciudad Real) and Marieta from Alicante held the audience spellbound with their comedic antics.
The event, directed by comedian Jesús Arenas, was a testament to the power of humour to connect people. The monologists mainly achieved this connection through everyday situations with which anyone could identify. The jury, comprising industry experts, valued the originality of the proposed scripts, as well as their interpretation and connection with the audience.
The Albacete public showed their support for the comedy genre, with both finals having full capacity. The winners, David Recas and Nadia Guillamón, were chosen for their ability to entertain and engage the audience. David Recas found inspiration for his comedy in the university world and the United States, while Nadia Guillamón chose anecdotes about child-rearing to entertain the audience.
In addition to the accolades, the winners also received prizes sponsored by Globalcaja. The winners earned the opportunity to perform at the next edition of Gacha's Comedy, Castilla-La Mancha's Humour Festival.
La Feria Comedy, in its second edition, saw more than 40 participants from all over Spain take part in the monologue contest. The event aims to promote and celebrate comedy as an art form, and it certainly achieved that goal with its successful finals.
As the laughter echoed through Globalcaja, it was clear that comedy was not just a form of entertainment but a powerful tool for connection and understanding. The event marked a significant moment in the comedy scene in Spain, and we can't wait to see what the future holds for La Feria Comedy.
