Glenn Maxwell skips IPL 2026 auction after Punjab Kings exit

The IPL 2026 auction will proceed without Glenn Maxwell after the Australian all-rounder chose not to register. His decision follows a difficult season with the Punjab Kings, who released him earlier this year. Meanwhile, other big names like Faf du Plessis and Moeen Ali are now heading to the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Maxwell was bought for ₹4.2 crore in the previous auction but struggled in IPL 2025. The Punjab Kings later released him and retained his replacement, Mitchell Owen. While his IPL future remains uncertain, he still plays T20Is and will feature in the T20 World Cup in India next February.

Maxwell’s absence from the IPL 2026 auction marks a shift in his T20 career. The Punjab Kings have moved on with Mitchell Owen, while Maxwell focuses on international cricket and potential PSL involvement. His decision reflects a broader trend of players exploring different leagues after their IPL stints.
