Gleeson acknowledges Kathleen set her sights on PGR Oaks
Droopys Kathleen, the greyhound owned by Alan Dobbs and jockey Dylan Browne McMonagle, is set to make a comeback to the racing track after a series of setbacks. The four-year-old, trained by Robert Gleeson in Ireland, has shown promising signs in her recent private trial at Newbridge and is now headed to Wolverhampton for her latest workout.
Droopys Kathleen made a stellar debut in October last year, winning all five of her initial races and setting a new 525-yard track record at Shelbourne Park. However, she had to take a break from racing due to a damaged tendon that required removal, and she has been restricted to home gallops and trials since.
The excitement about Droopys Kathleen's potential return to racing is growing, as she is scheduled for a 480m trial at Dunstall Park on Friday. If she performs well in the trial, she may participate in a trial stakes the following week.
Meanwhile, The Oaks, a Category One competition, is scheduled to run at the new Arc venue from October 3 to October 24. This prestigious event is open to 72 bitches, with entries closing on Tuesday, September 30. The final of The Oaks will offer a £20,000 prize.
Trainer Robert Gleeson has expressed confidence in Droopys Kathleen's current condition, stating that she is in good shape and performed well in her last trial. However, no official decision has been made regarding her participation in The Oaks.
Droopys Kathleen last raced on November 16, when she won the final of the Puppy Oaks. Since then, she has not competed in any races.
As the countdown to her potential return to racing begins, fans and enthusiasts of greyhound racing are eagerly waiting to see Droopys Kathleen back in action. Let's hope for a successful comeback for this talented greyhound!
