Gladbach fans stage silent protest against stadium security reforms

Borussia Mönchengladbach supporters staged a silent protest during a home match against RB Leipzig. The demonstration targeted the government’s proposed security measures for football stadiums. Fans held up white cards and banners to voice their opposition before the game began.

The protest took place in the north stand, where supporters displayed small white cards with the word 'No' printed on them. They also unfurled banners reading, 'No to the Interior Ministers’ Conference plans. Interior Minister Reul: No decisions against our fan culture.' For 12 minutes, the crowd remained completely silent, making their stance clear.

The protest highlights growing resistance to the proposed security reforms. With the Interior Ministers’ Conference approaching, fans and clubs alike are pushing back against measures they see as excessive. The outcome of the December discussions will determine whether such policies move forward.
