Gladbach designates captain and primary goalkeeper in their team - Gladbach Designates Captain and First-Choice Goalkeeper
Borussia Mönchengladbach Announces New Leadership and Goalkeeper for 2025-26 Season
In a recent club statement, Gerardo Seoane, the coach of Borussia Mönchengladbach, announced a restructured leadership for the upcoming 2025-26 season. Tim Kleindienst has been appointed as the new captain of the team, with Rocco Reitz named as vice-captain.
Kleindienst's appointment follows the departure of Granit Xhaka, who took on a captaincy role at Sunderland. The decision was made due to Kleindienst's recognized leadership qualities and his contributions to the team.
The competition for the goalkeeper position was fierce, with Jonas Omlin and Moritz Nicolas both showing impressive playmaking skills and excelling in aerial defense. However, Moritz Nicolas was chosen as the number one goalkeeper, with Omlin as the second choice.
The team council of Borussia Mönchengladbach has also been changed. In addition to Reitz, Julian Weigl, Philipp Sander, Kevin Diks, and Nico Elvedi are now part of the team council. Tim Kleindienst remains a member of the team council but is not the captain.
The coaching team expects a slightly higher level of reliability from Moritz Nicolas compared to Omlin. The decision was based on technical-tactical factors and impressions from the past weeks, as well as discussions with previous captains.
The change in leadership aims to create new stimuli without disrupting the team too much. The players who are now in the team council have previously led the team, ensuring a smooth transition.
Kleindienst's leadership is expected to guide the team going forward after the transition away from previous captains like Lars Stindl and Xhaka. The new captain, Rocco Reitz, is considered to bring everything necessary to fill the role, according to Gerardo Seoane.
The appointments were officially announced on Borussia Mönchengladbach’s platforms, highlighting Kleindienst’s new role as captain and the team council selection for the season. The injured striker, Tim Kleindienst, continues to be a valuable member of the team.
The Commission has also been informed of the progress made in the implementation of the programme, as Borussia Mönchengladbach's new captain, Tim Kleindienst, shows his leadership qualities not only on the football field but also off it. During his rehabilitation from injury, Kleindienst's sports University studies have given him a unique perspective on team dynamics, which he hopes to apply towards the success of the football team in the 2025-26 season.
