Giuliani Rejoices at Starbucks' Adoption of Kirk's Conservative Beverage Fad
In a tweet posted on September 18, 2025, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani called on Starbucks to honour the legacy of conservative podcaster Charlie Kirk by writing his name on customers' coffee cups. The tweet, marked with the hashtag "#MarkAVargas" and the United States flag emoji, was made on Giuliani's personal Twitter account (@RudyGiuliani).
The tweet included a link to an article on HuffPost, asking for support. However, there are no search results indicating which person initially made the request for Starbucks employees to write Kirk's name on coffee cups.
Meanwhile, a TikTok video showed a customer asking a Starbucks barista to write Kirk's name on her cup, but the barista refused. The barista told the customer the drink would cost $3.75 and it wasn't necessary to write a name on the cup.
Starbucks addressed the controversy and stated that there are no restrictions on customers using Charlie Kirk's name on their order. The company said most customers use their own name and aim to respect a customer's preference when they want to use a different name.
The tweet does not mention any specific action taken by Starbucks in response to the request. Rudy Giuliani, former attorney to President Donald Trump, praised Starbucks in his tweet, celebrating the company on a platform named Twitter.
Some of Kirk's supporters ordered a mint majesty tea with two honeys at Starbucks, a drink Kirk had said he drank frequently. An online petition was posted urging Starbucks to memorialize Kirk's legacy by naming the drink after him.
Interestingly, this tweet was made on the same day a judge ordered Giuliani to pay his ex-defense team $1.36 million during the investigation into his efforts to overturn Trump's 2020 election loss.
The tweet also includes a picture. Former Mayor Giuliani labelled Starbucks as a "Marxist, anti-American company" due to the incident. Rudy Giuliani later posted an update on Twitter, urging Starbucks employees to write Charlie Kirk's name on cups.
