Sarah Gigante Showcases Potential at Tour de France Femmes

Sarah Gigante, a member of the AG Insurance-Soudal Team, is making her mark at the Tour de France Femmes. After her successful performance at the Giro d'Italia Women earlier this month, Gigante has demonstrated resilience and tactical strength in the French race.

At the Giro, Gigante won two summit finish stages and finished third overall, showcasing her climbing abilities and general classification (GC) potential in major stage races. This form has translated well into the Tour de France Femmes, where she has been consistently competitive in the GC battles.

In the 2025 race, Gigante impressed on tough climbs such as the Col de la Madeleine, but faced difficulties descending the Col de Joux Plane on the final queen stage, finishing sixth overall—just off the podium. In the 2024 edition, she finished seventh overall, progressively improving her climbing form and race presence.

Gigante's role has not been limited to individual performances. She has also provided crucial team support, helping her teammates in key moments, illustrating both her individual talent and teamwork value.

AG Insurance-Soudal Team's sports director, Jolien D'hoore, has expressed excitement about Gigante's potential in the Tour de France Femmes. The team is aiming to keep Gigante in contention for the overall standings, alongside Kim Le Court, who took the yellow jersey for a day.

As the Tour de France Femmes enters its mountainous stages, including Col de La Madeleine (stage 8) and Châtel, Gigante's strengths are expected to come to the fore. She is currently in 19th place overall, 51 seconds behind Marianne Vos, but only 33 seconds behind Pauline Ferrand-Prévot.

Gigante has been training hard and preparing for the Tour de France Femmes, despite not having a usual recovery day in the week following the Giro d'Italia Women. She has expressed that she needed a couple of rest days after the Giro, but came to the Tour de France Femmes ready.

Despite not loving the terrain of the Tour de France Femmes so far, Gigante is looking forward to the upcoming mountain stages. With her climbing prowess and consistent form, she is a rising contender for future editions of the race.

Sarah Gigante's impressive performance at the Tour de France Femmes extends beyond individual victories, as she has also demonstrated her value as a team player by providing crucial support to her teammates. Her resilience and tactical strength, evident in the GC battles of the Tour de France Femmes, suggest that she could excel in future editions of the race, given her climbing prowess.
